We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Credit Analyst

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description 

  • The Credit Analyst plays a critical role in evaluating the financial health and creditworthiness of applicants to ensure sustainable lending and portfolio performance. The Credit Analyst will provide recommendations based on their analysis to support informed lending decisions.

Responsibilities
Credit Assessment & Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough credit analysis and due diligence on loan applications including financial statement analysis and cash flow projections
  • Evaluate loan proposals and recommend appropriate credit terms based on risk profile.
  • Review and analyze customer documentation including invoices and bank statements.

Risk Evaluation & Monitoring:

  • Identify potential risks in credit transactions and propose mitigants.
  • Maintain risk grading models and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Monitor and track existing loans for early warning signs of default or irregularities.

Portfolio Management:

  • Track portfolio performance across credit products such as SME loans, Vendor Loan Scheme, etc.
  • Recommend restructuring strategies where necessary.
  • Assist in developing reports for management and regulators on credit portfolio performance.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Ensure all documentation is complete and in compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams for KYC, AML, and policy adherence checks.
  • Provide periodic reports on loan portfolio, risk trends, delinquency ratios, and sectoral exposure.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, market trends, and best practices in credit analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • Proven experience in credit analysis, preferably in a financial institution or impact fund.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow modeling, and credit risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with SME lending dynamics in Nigeria.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, financial modeling, and credit scoring tools.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • High level of integrity and accountability
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capability
