The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) is a five year (2009 - 2014) project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that aims to increase the use of modern family planning (FP) methods among the urban poor in the six cities of Abuja FCT, Ibadan, Kaduna, Ilorin, Benin City, and Zaria by at least 20 percentage points. NURHI is part of a broader Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (other sites include India, Kenya, and Senegal).

The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) Phase 2, seeks applications from qualified individuals to contribute to improved maternal health and reduced child mortality through increased modem contraceptive use in selected sites for the Phase 2 Project in Nigeria:

Job Description
  • The Office Assistant is responsible for providing routine office assistance to the NURHI project and field office staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain general office systems including filing; coordinating timely timesheet submission; sending, receiving and distributing faxes; and’ photocopying.
  • Coordinate and prepare mailings, including production, photocopying, assembling, posting and courier/shipping.
  • Assist in the distribution of checks to vendors.
  • Assisting field staff with personal requests related to banking, medical appointments, and other such activities that are difficult to conduct from the field.
  • Perform additional and miscellaneous job-related duties for the office as assigned.
Skills Required:
  • Great organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing, typing and computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power point)
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum O'Level Certificate of Secondary Education, an A level or OND qualification from a recognized Institution preferred.
  • Experience working in an office, preferably a NGO environment or international donor organization/project
