Job Description
  • The Senior Laboratory Services Officer will provide technical expertise and coordinate services needed to implement high quality clinical laboratory services.
  • He/she will provide support for the design, planning and implementation of laboratory services across diagnostic and molecular laboratories in accordance with national and international standards while ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor laboratory total quality management and provide technical support for the implementation of Blood Safety, Injection Safety, Bio-safety and Infection Control across supported sites and facilities.
  • Develop guidelines, tools, SOPs and recommendations related to implementation, and monitoring of laboratory service in high technology laboratories.
  • Provide technical support and supervision to the team including capacity building and mentoring.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Ability
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
  • Master’s Degree preferable.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the current principles and techniques surrounding the management of laboratory services.
  • Familiarity with standards and federal/state regulations affecting the laboratory and laboratory practices within a hospital environment.
  • Excellent supervisory and team management skill.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting with particular focus on molecular diagnosis, viral load determination, drug resistance testing, genotyping and nucleic acid sequencing is a must.
  • Working knowledge of public sector health system, donor agencies, NGOs and CBOs is required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory agency standards.
  • Registration with the Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
