Job Description
  • The Laboratory Services Officer will provide technical leadership in ensuring delivery of high quality laboratory services required for HIV/AIDS care and treatment services at supported facilities.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating laboratory activities at sites in designated states.
  • Ensure effective biosafety management and implement an efficient sample referral mechanism.
  • Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of Laboratory logistics system across health facilities in the designated state.
  • Provide technical support in the institution and monitoring of Quality Management System and Laboratory Information System.
  • Train site laboratory staff on use of Standard Operating Procedures, job aids, log books, referral forms, etc.
  • Ensure and monitor efficient documentation of laboratory results at designated sites.
  • Monitor and report on quality management/quality assurance activities.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Ability
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or its equivalent.
  • Valid Certificate to practice as Medical Laboratory Scientist is mandatory.
  • At least 5 years’ post NYSC cognate experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in the design, implementation and management of laboratory services in HIV/AIDS program.
  • Experience in Laboratory Information Systems and at least medium level computer skill.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access preferred.
  • Registration with the Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
  • Experience in epidemiological survey and/or molecular diagnosis will be an added advantage.
