The West African Health Organization (WAHO) has recently initiated its field activities as part of the West Africa Regional Disease Surveillance Capacity Strengthening (WARDS) Project. In this regard the Centre for International Cooperation in Health and Development (CCISD), a Canadian NGO based in Quebec City, Canada, was selected as WAHO’s implementing partner for the field epidemiology training component activities targeting paramedics in 15 ECOWAS member countries including NIGERIA. As such, CCISD is in the process of recruiting a qualified and competent Driver to assist in the implementation of the CCISD-WARDS project in Nigeria. The Nigeria CCISD WARDS office will be working under the authority of the Federal Ministry of Health. It will be located within the NCDC.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the CCISD-WARDS Project Coordinator, the incumbent will provide driving services to help CCISD-WARDS meet its objectives. Specific tasks include:
  • Reporting at CCISD WARDS office every day at 7:30 a.m. and being available for the rest of the working day.
  • Conscientiously and in good faith completing the work and tasks assigned to him, and being present at any location where the Project Coordinator requires his services.
  • Providing services in a conscientious and professional manner.
  • Ensuring that the vehicle is maintained in a mechanically sound, properly painted and clean condition that is fit for the purpose of providing the services and advising the Coordinator if the vehicle is involved in any accident.
  • Providing properly completed documents in the form, time and manner reasonably required by the Project Coordinator from time to time.
  • Complying at all times in the performance of the services with all laws that are applicable to the services, including but not limited to laws dealing with:
    • Registration of the vehicle and compulsory third party insurance;
    • Environmental requirements, emission controls and noise standards;
    • Road safety and traffic management laws;
    • Occupational safety and health
    • Dangerous goods, including any signage and compulsory insurance requirements;
    • Driving hours and fatigue management.
Tenure of Appointment
The appointment will be for 18 months, including a 3-month probationary period and starting in January 2016. Contract extension will be subject to performance and availability of funding.

Remuneration
The salary attached to the position and allowances for locally recruited staff will be discussed during interview.
