Job Description
The incumbent is the Head of Section, Statistical Harmonization of Balance of Payment and Public Finance Statistics. She/he will lead the development of regional harmonized statistical methodology and guides for balance of payment statistics

Duties and Responsibilities

Undertake studies in collaboration with national and regional institutions, aimed at evaluating data comparability in the region;
Network with regional and international institutions in issues relating to statistical harmonization in National Accounts;
Defining appropriate policies for the harmonization of statistical concepts, definitions and methodologies in Balance of payments;
Lead development of regional harmonized statistical methodology documents and guides for balance of payment statistics;
Conducts the harmonization activities in relevant areas of regional integration, including economic and trade surveillance, and monitoring of regional and international development programmes;
Monitors the implementation of harmonized frameworks by Member States, including compliance with international standards and frameworks;
Any other responsibility that may be assigned to him/her by the Head of Division or Director.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field relevant to work
  • A higher degree in the relevant field may substitute for two years of professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years relevant professional experience
  • Must be fluent in one of the official languages of the Commission; English, French and Portuguese. A working knowledge of another would be an advantage.
  • Candidates should not be 50 years old or over at the point of recruitment and must be a citizen of one of the ECOWAS member states.
