Supervisor: Head of Unit, Small Arms
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination and monitoring of Member States activities through their National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW);
- Develop and maintain close and regular contact with National Commission on SALW;
- Submit regular reports on the activities on the National Commissions on SALW;
- Develop and maintain close and regular contact with relevant CSO’s and NGO’s working in the field of SALW;
- Assist in the analysis and dissemination of information regarding the problems of SALW in the sub-region;
- Assist in preparing all relevant reports of activities relating to the implementation of the Moratorium/convention;
- Conduct any other that that may be requested.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in the Social Science preferably in Sociology, Political Science, International Relations, Security Studies or related fields
- At least five (5) years cognate experience in Regional or International Organizations
- Possession of a higher degree may substitute for two years of professional experience
- Must be fluent in one of the official languages of the Commission; English, French and Portuguese. A working knowledge of another would be an advantage.
- Candidates should not be 50 years old or over at the point of recruitment and must be a citizen of one of the ECOWAS member states.
