Job Title: Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer

Location: Gujeni, Kaduna

Position Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to join our Maintenance team at the Bulk Emulsion SME Plant in Kaduna.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the plant’s electrical infrastructure and instrumentation systems, ensuring efficient, safe, and uninterrupted production processes in a hazardous mining environment.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems Operation & Maintenance:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment including:
    • 2MVA transformers, ICOG, PDB, and APFC panels
    • MCCBs up to 200A
    • 11KV power line infrastructure
    • LED lighting systems and illumination networks
    • Electric motors (up to 25KW) and electric boilers (640KW)

Instrumentation & Control Systems:

  • Maintain and program PLC and HMI systems; conduct logic interpretation and updates
  • Support SCADA systems’ stability and reliability
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot pressure, temperature sensors, transmitters, and actuated valves

Process Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate on automation initiatives and system upgrades

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities and inventory usage
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory codes, and plant procedures
  • Develop and update SOPs for electrical and instrumentation functions

Team Collaboration:

  • Provide technical support and mentorship to electricians and junior maintenance staff
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve issues and optimize uptime

Qualifications & Skills
Education:

  • B.Sc / B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline
  • Certifications in PLC programming, SCADA, or industrial automation are an added advantage

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years’ hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation roles, preferably in a mining, chemical, or explosives plant
  • Experience maintaining transformers, electric boilers, 11KV systems, and automation platforms

Technical Competencies:
Proficiency in:

  • PLC programming, SCADA systems, and HMI troubleshooting
  • Calibration of process instruments and electrical fault diagnostics
  • AutoCAD or relevant electrical drafting tools

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent troubleshooting and fault analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of safety and regulatory standards
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
