Girl Effect is an organisation working to break the cycle of inter-generational poverty. We do this by investing in programmes for girls, connecting girls to each other to amplify their voices, and brokering access to the critical assets girls need. We drive behaviour change by harnessing media in innovative ways and building social networks to shift girls’ perceptions of themselves and how others value them.
When a girl is better educated, has access to sexual and reproductive healthcare information and services, has access and control of economic assets, is safe from violence and exploitation, and has the capabilities and confidence to make positive choices, she can break the cycle of poverty.

Job Title: Consultant, Girl and Gender Specialists

Objectives
- We seek to identify Girl Specialists and Gender experts with an interest in future work with GEN who can provide expertise in the following areas:
Training:
- Planning and developing training materials
- Facilitating training workshops
- Curriculum development
- Curriculum development research
- Developing curriculum development process
- Developing curriculum
Capacity building:
- Capacity needs assessments
- Developing capacity building strategies and plans
- Building the capacity of NGOs and coaching staff
- Facilitating capacity building workshops and initiatives
Safety:
- Safety needs assessment
- Designing girls’ safety programmes
- Training on girls’ safety
Safe guarding:
- Developing Safeguarding policies
- Training on safe guarding
Qualifications and Experiance
- Degree in Business, International Development, Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, or related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience in working with the development sector
- Demonstrable experience with similar exercises in similar position
- Very good knowledge of NGOs, CBOs and CSOs in Northern Nigeria.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English language required, including report development, writing and editing.
- Ability to communicate fluently in Hausa language is an advantage.
