What You’ll Do
- The General Manager will provide strategic leadership, drive sustainable growth, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Microfinance Bank.
- The GM will ensure the bank maintains regulatory compliance, strengthens operational efficiency, delivers excellent customer service, and achieves profitability while upholding the institution’s mission of financial inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Growth:
- Develop and execute the bank’s strategic plan in line with board directives and regulatory guidelines.
- Drive the growth of loan portfolios, savings mobilization, and other financial products.
- Identify new market opportunities and partnerships to expand the bank’s reach.
- Operations & Compliance:
- Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, customer satisfaction, and adherence to policies.
- Ensure compliance with CBN, NDIC, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strong internal control systems and risk management practices.
- Financial Management:
- Monitor and drive financial performance, ensuring profitability and cost efficiency.
- Prepare and present financial, operational, and performance reports to the board.
- Implement effective credit risk management frameworks to minimize loan defaults.
- People & Culture:
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing team aligned with the bank’s mission.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellent service delivery.
- Establish training and development initiatives to build staff capacity.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators, clients, investors, and community stakeholders.
- Represent the bank at key industry and stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage).
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in banking/financial services, with at least 3 years in senior management.
- Proven experience in microfinance or retail banking is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the CBN regulatory framework and microfinance operations.
- Exceptional leadership, people management, and decision-making skills.
