Job Title: Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Overview

  • Our client is seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to join their leadership team on a part-time basis.
  • This is a strategic role designed to build the financial foundation that will enable their next phase of growth while developing their existing finance team leader into a world-class finance professional.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Systems & Infrastructure:

  • Design and implement scalable financial systems, processes, and controls appropriate for our growth stage.
  • Establish best-in-class financial reporting frameworks and dashboards for real-time business insights.
  • Set up robust forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management processes.
  • Implement appropriate accounting software and tools to support operational efficiency, specifically focusing on the integration of Zoho Books ERP with financial reporting modules.
  • Create standardized financial policies and procedures documentation.

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on all financial matters.
  • Develop financial models to support strategic decision-making and growth initiatives.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Provide guidance on capital allocation, pricing strategies, and unit economics.
  • Support fundraising efforts or investor relations as needed.
  • Develop the financial business case (Capex/Opex/ROI) and build the financial tracking model for achieving the Value Chain Control (VCC) 65% goal.

Team Development & Mentorship:

  • Mentor and develop our existing Finance Team, building their capabilities and confidence.
  • Provide hands-on coaching on technical accounting, financial analysis, and strategic finance.
  • Help structure the finance function for scale, including roles, responsibilities, and career paths.
  • Transfer knowledge and best practices to build long-term institutional capability.
  • Foster a high-performance finance culture focused on accuracy, insights, and partnership.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Optimize working capital management and radically improve the Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) by solving core Accounts Receivable (AR) delays.
  • Review and improve vendor relationships, payment terms, and procurement processes.
  • Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities without compromising growth.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years in progressive finance leadership roles, including at least 5 years as CFO or Senior Finance Roles.
  • Track Record: Proven experience scaling finance functions in high-growth companies (ideally from early stage to Series B/C or equivalent).
  • Mentorship: Demonstrated success in building and developing finance teams and leaders.
  • Systems Expertise: Deep knowledge of financial systems implementation (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho etc).
  • Education: ICAN, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification; MBA is a plus.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in professional service businesses preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets, financial modelling, fundraising, financial strategy and comfort with modern finance tech stack.

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 2-3 days per week (flexible arrangement).
  • Availability for key monthly/quarterly planning and review sessions.
  • Responsive support during critical business moments.
  • Minimum 6-month initial engagement with potential to extend.

What Success Looks Like
Within 90 Days:

  • Reduce the Accounts Receivable (AR) Days from 102 days to 30 days.
  • Financial systems roadmap developed and implementation begun.
  • Current state assessment completed with priority recommendations.
  • Strong working relationship established with Finance Team Lead.
  • Monthly reporting cadence and KPIs established.

Within 6 Months:

  • VCC Financial Roadmap: Deliver a detailed, board-ready financial plan (Capex, Opex, ROI) for establishing the vertical Integration (Production/Manufacturer sourcing), outlining the capital strategy to reach 65% VCC.
  • Core financial systems operational and delivering reliable data.
  • Finance Team Lead demonstrably more confident and capable.
  • Finance Team Lead is independently managing monthly reporting, generating the rolling 13-week cash flow forecast, and leading the weekly collections review.
  • Leadership team leveraging financial insights for decision-making.
  • Scalable financial infrastructure supporting 3-5x growth.
  • Company well-positioned for the next funding round or profitability milestone.
  • Clear path to either continued fractional engagement or eventual full-time CFO hire.

Compensation

  • Competitive fractional CFO compensation based on experience and time commitment.
  • We're open to various arrangements.
