Sightsavers Nigeria - COUNTDOWN is a research study funded by DFID led by Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and is aimed at illustrating the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in addressing the complexity and challenges of implementing Neglected Tropical.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: COUNTDOWN Research Analyst (Evidence Synthesis, Social Scientist, Health Economics)

COUNTDOWN Research Office Kaduna, Abeokuta, Ogun State

Job Description

The research analysts will work with the Research Manager and other research team members to successfully drive the direction and delivery of the COUNTDOWN project vis a viz the MSTI, MST2 and MST3 in line with national policies and elimination goals in Nigeria.

Description of Post/Responsibilities
  • Responsible for quality assurance of research conducted in Nigeria under the COUNTDOWN research project in Ogun and Kaduna Stales.
  • Support on the design of research studies (in collaboration LSTM) to ensure they are conducted with methodological rigour and are relevant for the context and need
  • Ensure relevant ethical standards and approvals are followed in all research implemented in Kaduna and Ogun States.
  • Support to COUNTDOWN research teams and help them to identify operational research opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of NTD elimination efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
  • PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, Health Economics or related disciplines, or post graduate Degree with at least five years’ experience in research as relevant to the positions.
  • Significant experience implementing research studies, ideally using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
  • Technical knowledge of one or more of the five PCT NTDs.
  • A demonstrated record of accomplishment in research in public health programmes, including the publication of papers in peer-review journals and presentation at academic conferences
  • Understanding of various research methodologies
  • Knowledge of ethical standards and procedures for conducting research
  • Understanding of various research methodologies
