We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Officer

Location:  NASCON - HO, Lagos

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the design, analysis, and supervision of structural works within the project Unit.
  • This role ensures that all structures—ranging from buildings and equipment foundations to support systems—are safe, cost-effective, and comply with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural designs for buildings, industrial facilities, and equipment foundations.
  • Collaborate with Architects and mechanical/electrical engineers to prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical input during feasibility studies and project proposals to ensure designs meet local building codes, international standards, and safety regulations.
  • Supervise construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Uses structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000) for modeling and simulations.
  • Recommend retrofitting or reinforcement of aging structures.
  • Perform load calculations (dead, live, wind, seismic, vibration) to ensure safety and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering. COREN, NSE OR PMP is an added advantage.
  • 3–5 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in industrial or project-based environments.      

Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and writing skills, and the ability to make presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good Knowledge of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis/design software (STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Contractor Accountability.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Dispute resolution.
  • Understanding engineering science, construction, and technology.
  • Understanding current buildings, health, and safety regulations.
  • Computer literacy and confidence using office and electronic project management programs.
