Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria (SHIN) is a key player in Nigeria's oil and gas and maritime industries, serving as the prime African subsidiary of the global shipbuilding giant, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) of Korea. Established in August 2011, SHIN has a fabrication and integration yard in Lagos. This facility is notable as Africa's first-ever and only Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) integration yard.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Electrical Technician

Location: Lagos

About the Role

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician to join our Production/Utility team.
  • This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our industrial electrical systems and equipment.
  • You will be responsible for installations, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs, playing a key part in maintaining our facility's electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform industrial electrical installations and servicing.
  • Conduct maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and repair electrical equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical wiring and schematic diagrams.
  • Take and record readings of power consumption, sewage, water, etc., as required.
  • Clearly communicate identified faults to supervisors and team members.
  • Plan and execute electrical installation and servicing works.
  • Ensure the maintenance of utility equipment.
  • Identify electrical equipment faults and develop appropriate solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High school education; Trade test certificate or Ordinary National Diploma is an added advantage.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Maximum age of 35 years.
  • Must be male.
  • Must be proficient in the repair and replacement of electrical fixtures, electrical wiring, and terminations in breakers, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
  • Must understand the principles of 3-phase electrical motors, HV and LV electrical power systems.
  • Open-minded, diligent, willing to learn and grow, with good attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing and able to follow instructions.
