We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Hotel Chef

Location: Surelere, Lagos

Job Summary

  • A Hotel Chef is responsible for managing kitchen operations, planning menus, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation in line with hotel standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and update food menus for the hotel restaurant and events
  • Design dishes that meet guest preferences and hotel standards
  • Plan special menus for occasions, buffets, and banquets
  • Oversee the preparation and cooking of meals
  • Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation
  • Monitor portion control and food quality standards
  • Supervise cooks and kitchen assistants
  • Assign duties and ensure smooth kitchen workflow
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
  • Enforce food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are clean and sanitized
  • Monitor proper food storage and handling
  • Manage food inventory and ordering of supplies
  • Monitor food costs and minimize waste
  • Ensure proper storage to prevent spoilage
  • Ensure proper use of kitchen equipment
  • Report maintenance issues promptly
  • Respond to guest feedback regarding meals
  • Adjust recipes or menus based on guest preferences or dietary needs
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Maintain records required for inspections

Professional Experience

 

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Head Cook in a hotel or restaurant
  • Experience managing a kitchen team

 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of various cuisines (local and continental)
  • Menu planning and recipe development skills
  • Knowledge of food costing and portion control
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
