Job Summary
- The Site Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial and accounting activities at project sites.
- The role ensures proper cost tracking, budget control, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with company policies across construction operations.
Key Responsibilities
Site Accounting & Financial Control:
- Maintain proper records of site expenses, petty cash, and imprest accounts
- Track daily site costs including materials, labor, logistics, and vendors
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site financial reports
- Reconcile site expenses with head office accounts.
Payments & Documentation:
- Process and track payments to suppliers, vendors, and site workers
- Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions (invoices, waybills, receipts)
- Verify quantities and costs of materials received on-site.
Budget & Cost Management:
- Monitor site budgets and flag cost overruns or irregularities
- Assist in cost analysis and cost-saving recommendations
- Support site management in financial planning and control.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company financial procedures
- Support internal and external audits when required
- Prepare reports for management review and decision-making.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
- OND / HND / BSc in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
Experience:
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Site Accountant or Accounts Officer in a construction environment
- Hands-on experience working on active project sites is mandatory
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of site accounting and construction cost structures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting tools
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work independently on-site
- Strong reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
