The Centre for Social Cohesion, Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE) is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting the ideals of self-sustainability, equality and social justice to the members of the society, it was founded in the year 2014 out of the need to give succor and support to the victim of arm conflict and natural disasters in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Volunteer / Intern 

Locations: 
MMC & Jere - Borno, Madagali, Adamawa and Fune - Yobe
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary

  • We are seeking passionate and committed Protection Volunteers/Interns to support protection activities for vulnerable populations.
  • This opportunity provides practical experience in community-based protection, awareness raising, and safe referral support within humanitarian programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support community outreach and protection awareness sessions
  • Assist in identifying protection concerns within communities
  • Support safe and confidential referrals to appropriate services
  • Assist in organising protection meetings, trainings, and community dialogues
  • Help maintain activity records, attendance sheets, and documentation
  • Support accountability and feedback mechanisms for affected populations
  • Promote protection principles, including dignity, safety, and non-discrimination
  • Represent the organisation respectfully during community engagement

Key Skills and Competences:

  • Interest in protection and humanitarian work
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with respect and confidentiality
  • Willingness to learn and work in field environments
  • Teamwork and basic organizational skills

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Sociology, Development Studies, or any related field
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel)
  • Professional experience in community mobilization and engaging with community stakeholders is highly required
  • Previous volunteer work or community engagement is an added advantage
