Job Title: Geologist

Mission / Purpose of the Job

  • The Geologist is responsible for the interpretation, integration, and modeling of subsurface geological data to support field development planning, drilling, completions, and reservoir management activities.
  • The role focuses on building and maintaining high-quality static reservoir models, evaluating geological uncertainties, and providing continuous field life updates to maximize hydrocarbon recovery while ensuring technical integrity, safety, and alignment with business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and update static earth and reservoir models, as essential requirements for well planning, field development activities, planning & monitoring operational activities across company’s asset.
  • Input to geological projects and studies and integrate study results into field development models.
  • Perform model building and uncertainty modelling to ensure consistent models are fit for purpose for Well re-entry plans, well intervention plans, Exploration and development drilling, and is essential for Full Field Development planning.
  • Primary Liaison with Senior Reservoir engineer to ensure proper links between static model and dynamic model work as well work and drilling progress.
  • Provide critical input to field data gathering and reservoir monitoring program.
  • Present results internally to management and externally to partners (government and other third parties). And liaise with partners to resolve technical issues.
  • Development and evaluation of STOG opportunities and activities towards incremental production.
  • Help build and maintain accurate and comprehensive databases of data gathered in conjunction with Geoscience team members.
  • Evaluate and communicate geological uncertainties feeding into additional data acquisition plans and capture in uncertainty analysis and reservoir modelling.
  • Prepare supporting documentation on infill or further development drilling opportunities, including budgets, presentations, well proposals, well AFE's and well diaries as required.
  • Align technical activities with business objectives to ensure timely delivery of fit for purpose solutions.
  • Reinforce best practices in Geomodeling techniques and Petrel workflows in the subsurface/Geoscience team.

Job Specifications: Minimum & Preferred Requirements
Education / Business Degree:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Petroleum Geoscience.
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in production geoscience, geomodeling, or static modeling within the oil and gas industry.
  • Advanced Knowledge of industry specific G&G software (Petrel, Kingdom, Decision Space, etc).
  • Experience in data integration across the Geological and Geophysical Environment.

Competencies, Skills & Attributes
Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of seismic and well log interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir geology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and sedimentology.
  • Advanced knowledge of static reservoir modeling, uncertainty analysis, and volumetrics.
  • Familiarity with production geoscience workflows and reservoir monitoring techniques.
  • Knowledge of drilling operations and subsurface risk evaluation.
