Job Title: Operations Technician

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Mission / Purpose of the Job

  • The Operations Technician role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production facilities and associated assets.
  • The Operations Technician supports day-to-day production activities, routine and minor non-routine maintenance, and operational monitoring to ensure optimal performance of oil, gas, and power generation facilities.
  • The role ensures compliance with HSE standards, operating procedures, and production targets while maintaining asset integrity and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operator of flow station, gas stations and associated assets in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with stipulated guidelines.
  • Execute routine production and maintenance operations and minor non-routine production and Maintenance activities as directed by his Team Leader.
  • Measure, validate, and report production volumes accurately.
  • Ensure that wells are tested and sampled as per the requirements of the reservoir management, validate and report the results.
  • Execute the set programmes of minor routine equipment services as set out in the facility Manuals and Work Practices.
  • Participate in monthly CASHES meeting and daily toolbox meeting.
  • Execute recommendations from performance improvement of individual assets
  • Perform functional test of asset to ensure integrity in conjunction with team leader.
  • Diagnose and rectify upsets in the plant or facilities.
  • Carry out routine first line maintenance checks on all plant and process equipment.
  • Where applicable, operate the NAG wells and monitor wells performance monthly through well testing.
  • Take requested samples for analyses, take and record field data requested for general monitoring of plant performance.
  • Operate plant-safeguarding systems located in the field.
  • Maintain good housekeeping within the plant areas.
  • Isolate and depressurize process equipment for maintenance as directed

Job Specifications: Minimum & Preferred Requirements
Education / Business Degree:

  • OND or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Trade Test Certificate, City & Guilds, or recognized vocational/technical training in plant operations or process technology is an added advantage.
  • Valid certifications in HSE, Permit-to-Work Systems, First Aid, or Firefighting are preferred.
  • OEM training or OEM-related certifications (e.g., compressors, turbines, control systems) will be an added plus.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ hands-on field experience in oil & gas operations, especially in production, process, or field operations.

  • Oil and gas separation processes and production operations.
  • Flow assurance, metering systems, and chemical dosing processes.
  • Plant automation and control systems (SCADA, DCS).
  • Shutdown, isolation, pigging operations, and flare systems.
  • HSE regulations, risk assessments, and safe work practices.

Skills:

  • Plant and process operation
