Job Title: Marine Operations Officer - Internship
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job Summary
- The Marine Operations Intern will provide critical support to the Operations Department in coordinating vessel activities, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining seamless communication between offshore crews and onshore management.
- This role offers hands-on exposure to fleet management and marine logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Reporting & Monitoring: Assist in validating daily activity reports from vessels for accuracy and monitoring fuel consumption trends using tools like FUELTRAX.
- Logistics & Procurement: Support the processing of vessel requisitions (materials and services) and coordinate with the Supply Chain department for timely delivery.
- Safety & Compliance: Track daily safety observations (Unsafe Acts/Conditions) and assist in monitoring mandatory drills and safety meetings.
- Operational Support: Assist the Port Captain in preparing documentation forManagement of Change (MOC)and closing out action items from internal or external audits.
- Data Management: Maintain up-to-date records of navigational information, IMO/Flag state guidelines, and client memos for vessel distribution.
- Vessel Visits: Participate in periodic vessel inspections and port-call activities to gain practical offshore experience.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or Logistics / Supply Chain Management.
- Experience: 1 - 3 years
- Technical Skills: Proficiency inMicrosoft Office Suite(especially Excel for data analysis) and a basic understanding of ERP systems.
- Soft Skills:
- High level of accuracy andattention to detail.
- Strong proactive problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Basic awareness of maritime codes likeISM,ISPS, andSTCW/MLCis an advantage.
