Job Description

  • Clinix Healthcare is seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our diagnostics team at our Abule Egba facility. We are committed to delivering accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory results to support clinical decision-making and patient care.
  • We are looking for a professional who is passionate about quality laboratory practice, precision in testing, and contributing to excellent healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of routine and specialized laboratory tests in hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology, serology, parasitology, and urinalysis. 
  • Collect, receive, process, and analyze patient specimens (blood, urine, body fluids, swabs, etc.) following standard operating procedures. 
  • Conduct quality control procedures, participate in internal and external quality assurance programs, and maintain accurate records of QC results. 
  • Prepare, interpret, and validate test results; verify abnormal findings and communicate critical results promptly to clinicians. 
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous materials in compliance with safety and infection control protocols. 
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all tests, results, and procedures in the laboratory information system (LIS). 
  • Participate in stock management, reagent preparation, and inventory control of laboratory supplies. 
  • Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to support diagnostic accuracy and patient management. 
  • Adhere strictly to ethical standards, patient confidentiality, and all regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO 15189 principles where applicable).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) degree from a recognized institution. 
  • Full registration and current practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). 
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in a busy clinical laboratory (hospital or diagnostic center preferred). 

Requirements & Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in clinical laboratory procedures across multiple disciplines. 
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to recognize and troubleshoot abnormal results or equipment issues. 
  • Proficiency in the use of automated analyzers, manual techniques, and laboratory information systems. 
  • Strong commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
