Job Title: Auto Electrician – Heavy Vehicles & Equipment

Locations: Akwa Ibom , Delta, Imo, and Rivers

Job Summary

  • The Auto Electrician – Heavy Vehicles & Equipment who would beresponsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems in trucks, excavators, and other heavy moving machines.
  • The role requires strong expertise in heavy-duty electrical systems, fault diagnosis, and on-site repair while ensuring safety, reliability, and minimal equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults in heavy vehicles and equipment including trucks, excavators, loaders, cranes, and earth-moving machinery
  • Install, maintain, and repair wiring harnesses, starters, alternators, batteries, lighting systems, and control panels
  • Troubleshoot electronic systems such as ECUs, sensors, CAN bus systems, safety interlocks, and machine control modules
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for heavy equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical inspections to reduce breakdowns
  • Use diagnostic tools, multimeters, and manufacturer-specific software to identify and resolve faults
  • Carry out field repairs at job sites when required
  • Ensure all work complies with OEM standards and safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate service records, fault reports, and maintenance logs
  • Coordinate with mechanics, operators, and supervisors to plan repairs and minimize downtime

Required Qualifications

  • HND, B. Eng Electrical & Electronics, Trade Tests 1, 2, 3
  • Minimum of 10 yearsexperience working on trucks, excavators, and heavy construction or mining equipment
  • Strong understanding of heavy-duty electrical and electronic systems
  • Ability to work independently in workshop and field environments

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with brands such as CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Howo, Hitachi, JCB, Liebherr, or similar
  • Knowledge of hydraulic-electrical integration systems
  • Experience with GPS, telematics, and machine monitoring systems

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote locations
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Physically fit and capable of working around heavy machinery

Working Conditions:

  • Workshop and outdoor site environments
  • May involve shift work, overtime, and emergency breakdown support
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and heavy equipment operations.
