Job Title: Industrial Chemist / Chemical Engineer

Locations: Abuja (FCT) and  Lagos

Job Summary

• We are seeking a qualified and innovative Industrial Chemist / Chemical Engineer with strong experience in surfactants and oleochemical processing.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and supervising the production of bio-based surfactants derived from coconut oil, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and formulate surfactants for soaps, detergents, shampoos, and liquid cleaners.
• Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product stability.
• Monitor chemical reactions such as saponification, sulfonation, and esterification.
• Conduct quality control tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Ensure compliance with NAFDAC, SON, and environmental safety standards.
• Maintain accurate production and laboratory records.
• Identify and resolve formulation and processing challenges.
• Support research and development of new eco-friendly products.

Manage chemical:

• inventory and ensure proper storage and handling.
• Collaborate with production and marketing teams for product improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education:

• B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry, or related discipline.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in surfactant, oleochemical, detergent, or cosmetic manufacturing.
• Experience with coconut oil processing and bio-based raw materials is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of oleochemistry and surfactant chemistry.
• Experience with the formulation of liquid soaps, shampoos, detergents, and emulsifiers.
• Ability to operate laboratory and pilot-scale equipment.
• Understanding of process optimization and quality systems.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc./HND) in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in surfactant, soap, detergent, or cosmetic manufacturing (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of coconut oil derivatives and fatty acid chemistry.
• Experience with laboratory testing equipment and quality control procedures.
• Understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.

• Monthly Salary: N120,000 – N150,000
