Job Title: Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Technology Solutions & Sales Engineering

Role Purpose

  • The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Technology Solutions & Sales Engineering is responsible for defining and executing MCL’s technology and solution strategy across Communication & Connectivity, Data Centre Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Cloud, and Managed Services.
  • This role provides executive leadership for technical solutioning and presales architecture, ensuring delivery of competitive, scalable, and commercially viable solutions that drive revenue growth,strengthen OEM partnerships, and enable successful project execution.
  • The CTO leads Solutions Architects, PreSales Engineers, and Technical Practice Leads, working closely with Sales, Delivery, and OEM partners to align technology with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Solution Leadership:

  • Define MCL’s enterprise solution strategy and technology roadmap.
  • Develop reusable architectures, reference designs, and standardised bill-of-materials.
  • Ensure alignment with OEM best practices, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  • Drive adoption of cloud, hybrid infrastructure, automation, SASE, and modern security frameworks.
  • Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Sales Engineering & Presales Leadership:

  • Lead the presales function, ensuring high-quality technical proposals, solution designs, and statements of work.
  • Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities, shape customer requirements, and position MCL competitively.
  • Provide senior technical leadership in customer meetings, workshops, and executive engagements.
  • Oversee RFP responses, technical bid submissions, and solution costing.

OEM & Strategic Partner Management:

  • Own executive relationships with key OEMs (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, Ribbon).
  • Drive partner competency attainment, certifications, and joint go-to-market initiatives.
  • Manage technical escalations and ensure alignment on solution design and delivery standards.

Delivery Alignment & Solution Assurance:

  • Ensure solutions are implementable, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Provide solution assurance during project kickoff and major milestones.
  • Support resolution of complex technical issues affecting delivery or customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure smooth transition from presales to delivery teams.

People Leadership & Capability Development:

  • Lead and develop Solutions Architects and PreSales Engineering teams
  • Build technical capability through structured learning paths and OEM certifications.
  • Set performance goals, coach team members, and build succession pipelines.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and customer focus.

Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement:

  • Maintain architecture standards, documentation, and technical governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and OEM requirements.
  • Improve proposal quality, solution consistency, and reuse of standard architectures.
  • Drive continuous improvement across technical engagement processes.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years’ experience in enterprise technology (networking, data centre, cybersecurity)
  • 5+ years in presales, solutions architecture, or technical leadership roles
  • Proven experience leading technical teams
  • Strong background in designing enterprise infrastructure and security solutions
  • Demonstrated success in engaging C-level stakeholders and supporting complex sales cycles
  • Experience working with major OEMs
  • Preferred Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, NSE, VCP, AWS/Azure, ITIL, CISSP

Preferred Experience:

  • Managed services and ITSM frameworks
  • Automation tools (Terraform, Ansible) and cloud-native architectures
  • Productised or repeatable solution development
  • Telco, large enterprise, or data centre transformation projects.
