We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Pharmacy

Location: Gudu, Abuja (FCT) - Head Office (with regular branch visits)
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Pharmacy Operations
Reports To: Managing Director / Operations Director
Supervises: Superintendent Pharmacists (All Branches)

Role Purpose

  • The Head of Pharmacy provides overall leadership, coordination, and strategic direction for pharmacy operations across all company branches.
  • This role ensures consistency in professional standards, regulatory compliance, commercial performance, and service quality across the network, while empowering Superintendent Pharmacists to effectively manage daily branch operations.

Key Responsibilities
Multi-Branch Oversight & Governance:

  • Provide professional leadership to all Superintendent Pharmacists across the 8 branches.
  • Ensure uniform implementation of pharmacy SOPs, policies, and standards company-wide.
  • Serve as the highest professional authority on pharmacy matters within the organization.
  • Conduct regular branch audits, reviews, and performance assessments.

Regulatory Compliance & Professional Standards:

  • Ensure all branches comply with PCN, NDLEA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee licensing, renewals, inspections, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Address compliance gaps and enforce corrective actions across branches.
  • Ensure ethical dispensing practices and patient safety standards are maintained.

Retail Performance & Commercial Strategy:

  • Develop and implement pharmacy growth strategies across all branches.
  • Monitor sales performance, margins, and pharmacy KPIs per branch.
  • Work with Superintendent Pharmacists to improve OTC sales, prescription volume, and customer retention.
  • Drive standard retail initiatives such as promotions, product mix optimization, and seasonal campaigns.

Inventory & Risk Control:

  • Provide oversight for procurement planning, stock control, and expiry management across branches.
  • Ensure strong controls to minimize pilferage, losses, and wastage.
  • Review stock reports and intervene where abnormal variances occur.
  • Align pharmacy inventory with community demand per location.

People Management & Capability Development:

  • Set performance expectations and KPIs for Superintendent Pharmacists.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of pharmacy staff in collaboration with HR.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate continuous professional development.
  • Handle escalated disciplinary, ethical, or performance issues.

Customer Experience & Clinical Excellence:

  • Ensure consistent standards of patient counseling and professional service across all branches.
  • Review and resolve escalated customer or professional complaints.
  • Promote community health initiatives and professional pharmacy services.

Reporting & Strategic Input:

  • Prepare consolidated pharmacy performance reports for management.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve efficiency, profitability, and compliance.
  • Participate in strategic planning, expansion, and new branch setup when required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or PharmD).
  • Valid PCN License.
  • 7–10 years’ experience in community/retail pharmacy, including multi-branch supervision or area management experience.
  • Proven experience working with Superintendent Pharmacists and structured pharmacy teams.

Salary
N400,000 - N600,000 monthly
