We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Lecturer I (Human Nutrition & Dietetics)

Job Purpose

  • Lecturer I denotes academic maturity and leadership; a nutrition scientist-educator who coordinates courses and fieldwork, mentors others, advances impactful research, and anchors UAST’s ambition for nutrition-driven health and food-system transformation.
  • The Purpose of this job is to deliver high-quality independent teaching and practical leadership, lead impactful research and innovation, mentor junior staff, and contribute to institutional governance and accreditation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate core HNDt courses and field/practical modules.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects and community interventions.
  • Lead/co-lead funded research and translational initiatives.
  • Publish in reputable journals; engage stakeholders and policymakers.
  • Serve on School/University committees and accreditation teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD Degree in Human Nutrition/Dietetics or Senate-approved cognate with strong nutrition scholarship.
  • A minimum of four (4) publications, at least two (2) in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Evidence of innovation (validated interventions, tools, datasets, policy outputs) is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • At least three (3) years as Lecturer II (or equivalent).
  • Active membership of recognised national/international nutrition or dietetics bodies.

  • Teaching excellence; research leadership; mentoring; policy translation; interdisciplinary collaboration.
