Job Title: Lecturer II (Nursing Science) - Tenure-Track

Job Purpose
- Lecturer II represents the first fully independent academic–clinical rank in Nursing Science at UAST Ihugh.
- The role integrates theory, clinical competence, research initiation, ethics, and community-centred care, preparing graduates who are safe, reflective, and globally competitive nurses.
- The purpose of the job is to independently deliver undergraduate teaching and clinical instruction, initiate nursing research, support skills-lab and clinical postings, and contribute to academic governance in line with UAST, NUC and NMCN standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching & Clinical Instruction:
- Independently teach assigned Nursing Science courses (theory, skills-lab, clinical practice).
- Design course outlines, assessments, OSCEs and simulations in compliance with NUC C-CMAS and NMCN standards.
- Supervise undergraduate projects, seminars and clinical competencies.
Research & Scholarship:
- Initiate and participate in nursing and health-systems research.
- Publish scholarly articles and present at professional conferences.
- Contribute to funded or applied research projects.
Innovation, Community & Clinical Impact:
- Participate in community health programmes, primary healthcare outreach and patient-safety initiatives.
- Support digital health, simulation-based learning and quality-improvement projects.
Academic Service & Quality Assurance:
- Serve on departmental/school committees.
- Support curriculum review, accreditation preparation and continuous quality improvement.
- Uphold professional ethics, patient confidentiality and academic integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD Degree in Nursing Science (or Senate-approved cognate acceptable to NMCN for nursing education). Current registration and valid practising licence with NMCN.
- Minimum of two (2) publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Evidence of clinical audits, protocols or innovations is an advantage.
Experience:
- At least three (3) years post-PhD or equivalent academic/clinical-academic experience.
