We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Corporate Counsel

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The ideal candidate will support regulatory compliance efforts, contract development, legal due diligence, and risk management across the company’s projects and internal operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as an in-house counsel and company secretary
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure organizational compliance with industry-specific laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and license applications with agencies like NERC, NEMSA, NMDPRA, NUPRC, NIPEX, CAC.
  • Provide strategic legal advisory support across transactions, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and employment-related matters.
  • Lead wide risk assessments, legal audits, compliance reports, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project development, bid preparation, and client advisory services.
  • Lead in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Participate in the development and implementation of company policies and compliance programs.

Qualifications

  • Education: LL.B degree from a reputable institution and BL from the Nigerian Law School with a minimum of a Second Class Upper (2.1). An LLM will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of post-NYSC and Call experience.
  • Preferably, in a corporate or energy environment will be an added advantage

Skills:

  • Efficiently manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of Nigerian regulatory frameworks for energy and natural resources.
