Job Title: Senior Chemist

Position Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Senior Chemist with a strong background in Water Treatment Plant (WTP) operations to support our mining activities in Kaduna.
  • The successful candidate will oversee chemical processes related to water treatment, ensuring compliance with environmental standards, optimizing water usage, and maintaining safe and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise water treatment laboratory operations within mining facilities.
  • Conduct chemical analyses of water samples, effluents, and process streams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement treatment protocols for water purification, recycling, and waste management.
  • Collaborate with mining engineers and environmental teams to optimize water treatment processes.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations in all chemical and water treatment activities.
  • Train and mentor junior chemists and technicians in WTP operations.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to management for operational improvements.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in water treatment and mining chemistry.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7–10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in Water Treatment Plant (WTP) operations.
  • Strong expertise in water treatment processes (coagulation, flocculation, filtration, disinfection, reverse osmosis, etc.).
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques (AAS, ICP, XRF, chromatography, titration, etc.).
  • Proven track record in process optimization and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian mining and environmental regulations.
