Hygiene Agent at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) - Belgium

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Hygiene Agent

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilties

• Maintaining, cleaning and disinfecting, the medical wards and infrastructures allocated to his/her position including furnitures, beds, doors, walls and floors and some medical material (rooms of patients, eating area, consultation rooms, laboratory, operating theatre, delivery room, mortuary, pharmacy, Offices, kitchen, bathroom and toilets); respecting schedules, applying the cleaning protocols and using the tools and equipment provided.
• Cleaning and disinfection of baby potties following the SOP; ensuring clean potties are available at all times in the toilet areas.
• Collecting and transporting medical wastes produced in the wards to the waste zone and emptying out the waste bins following schedules and as often as necessary to ensure an efficient quality of care and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• Raising awareness on hygiene, sanitation and waste management measures amongst patients, visitors, staff and mothers, educating caregivers on correct use of water points, latrines, waste bins, hand washing points and washing areas in collaboration with the nursing and health promotion team.
• Filling all water containers every morning (hand washing points) and refilling when needed. Ensuring there is soap at all times at the handwashing station in his/her duty post
• Washing and cleaning the Ceramic hand washing points in his/her duty post at least once a day.
• Perform periodic deep cleaning of medical wards and other infrastructures according to the calendar and whenever required.
• Perform other tasks in line with Job profile as requested by the Supervisor and Head of Hygienist.

Requirements

• Interested candidates should possess an OND / HND qualification with at least 2 years experience.
