Job Title: Associate Medical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • The Medical Laboratory Scientist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by performing and interpreting laboratory tests to aid in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
  • The role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to quality and safety standards to ensure the delivery of accurate and reliable diagnostic results.
  • The scientist also contributes to maintaining the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS) and upholding best practices that support efficient, patient-centered healthcare delivery. 

What You'll Do

  • Collect and label samples like blood, urine, or tissue carefully. 
  • Keep each sample clean, safe, and in the right place. 
  • Make sure samples are not mixed up or spoiled. 
  • Use machines like microscopes and analyzers to test samples. 
  • Check that each machine is working well before and after use. 
  • Tell the supervisor if any machine stops working properly. 
  • Always wear gloves, coats, and masks to stay safe. 
  • Keep the lab clean and free from germs. 
  • Throw away waste and sharp objects safely. 
  • Test samples carefully so results are correct. 
  • Double-check work to avoid mistakes. 
  • Document all results clearly and keep good records. 
  • Do urgent tests fast so doctors can treat patients quickly. 
  • Share results with the doctor as soon as they are ready. 
  • Organize work so no time is wasted. 
  • Always make sure results are true and easy to understand. 
  • Keep all records safe and complete. 
  • Work hard to give the best results that help doctors care for patients. 

Requirements
What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS), or Bachelor of Science, Medical Laboratory Sciences (BSc MLS). 
  • Current practicing license issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). 
  • Completed NYSC with evidence of NYSC discharge certificate or exemption. 
  • Stay within 10km radius of the specific RFC applied for or can easily commute daily. 

Nice to Have:

  • Certification in Quality Management Systems. 
  • Previous experience working with Laboratory Information Management System Software (LIMS) 
  • Ability to work a 6-hour daily shared shift within a clinic setting.
