The Role

  • As an Aviation Operations Supervisor, you will provide Air Transport Technical Authority support, that is, providing expert guidance, oversight, and assurance for all air transport activities.
  • You will partner with business leaders, manage contracted aviation services, drive world‑class safety standards, and ensure air operations are conducted at a risk level that is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
  • You will also play a key role in emergency response capability, aviation risk management, and the continuous improvement of Shell’s air transport operations nationwide.

Responsibilities
Technical Authority & Assurance:

  • Provide expert aviation guidance to Shell business units and contracted air operators.
  • Ensure compliance with Shell and industry aviation standards.
  • Lead safety case delivery, bowtie management, and local aviation safety planning.
  • Drive implementation of global best practices to improve efficiency and safety.

Contract & Performance Management:

  • Serve as Contract Holder for aviation contracts, ensuring full compliance and high performance.
  • Oversee operator audits, assessments, KPIs, and performance scorecards.

HSSE & Emergency Response:

  • Support and strengthen Shell’s aviation Safety Management Systems.
  • Lead aviation response during emergencies, including SAR/MEDEVAC coordination.
  • Conduct facility audits (airfields, heliports, helidecks) in line with Shell standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, plus valid ATPL (preferred), CPL, or A&P license; military equivalents welcome.
  • Extensive aviation experience, ideally in the oil & gas sector or military aviation.
  • Strong leadership background and ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in aviation maintenance, logistics/supply chain, safety management, and project management.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Physically able to work offshore (HUET required).
  • Desirable: offshore helicopter operations experience, accident investigation or aviation safety certifications, maintenance QA training, or AS9100:2016 Lead Auditor credentials.
