Phillips Consulting - Our client, a leading manufacturing, marketing and installation company with a focus on roofing and flooring materials is seeking to recruit astute and qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

Job Title: Head - Company Legal and Regulatory Affairs

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide advisory services on issues that relate to legal and regulatory requirements and liaise with relevant regulatory bodies
  • Manage relationships with external solicitors and ensure compliance with agreed service levels
  • Manage all corporate affairs and communications on behalf of the organisation
  • Draft, negotiate, administer, interpret and advise on agreements, letters, forms, and other legal documents related to the organisation as required
  • Participate in the articulation of the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives
  • Review and authorize all expenditure/transactions of the legal department in line with the approved departmental budget and the organisations manual of authority
  • Provide all guidance, leadership support and strategic direction in the execution of the legal department’s functions and activities
  • Keep abreast of best practices, changes in regulation, amendment of enabling laws and proactively advise the business accordingly
Qualifications and Experience
  • Must have a first degree in Law(LL.B.)
  • A master's degree (LL,M,) in commercial law is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 8-10 years post qualification experience high includes a combination of experience in a law firm and the manufacturing /financial services sectors
  • Prior experience in business investment transactions
  • Membership of relevant local and international associations
  • In-depth knowledge of international, local business and commercial law
  • Excellent leadership /supervisory and people management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
  • Sound business acumen
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills
