Job Summary
- We are looking out to hire a reliable and well-experienced Accountant to oversee finances and keep track of all expenditure, tax and regulatory obligations, and staff payroll.
Job Description
- Handle the company’s accounting procedures and maintain a healthy financial profile ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
- An accountant will be responsible for the finance and accounts department of the organization.
- Reporting directly to MD
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Providing an interpretation of financial information.
- Monitoring cash flow and using the same to predict future financial trends.
- Analyzing change and advising the Management on what needs to be done
- Formulating strategies to be used in the long-term financial plans for a business entity
- Researching the different factors that influence business performances
- Analyzing the performance of competitors and the trends in the financial market
- Developing management mechanisms in the finance department for the purpose of minimizing financial risks.
- Reviewing and evaluating cost reduction opportunities open to the firm.
- Working with auditors to establish and ensure prudent financial practices.
- Maintain relevant books of accounts for the hotel operation.
- She/he will be responsible for bank statements and POS transactions reconciliations of the hotel/restaurant.
- Successful candidate will be responsible for reconciliation of daily sales activities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly management accounts
- Prepare daily cash flow statement
- Maintain fixed assets register of the hotel/restaurant.
- Build accurate financial reports and identify discrepancies clearly
- Execute tasks/requests as instructed by the MD.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any other relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of prior general accounting experience
- Experience in the Hospitality industry will be a plus
- Membership of relevant professional bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
- Professional written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and Google Sheet
- Account reconciliation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
- Excellent in analytics and problem-solving
- Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
