Position Summary
- The Class Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instruction to pupils, ensuring academic excellence, emotional well-being, and positive classroom culture.
- The ideal candidate must combine sound pedagogical knowledge with creativity, discipline, warmth, and strong classroom management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan and deliver structured, engaging, and learner-centered lessons.
- Implement age-appropriate teaching strategies aligned with curriculum standards.
- Prepare weekly lesson plans and termly schemes of work.
- Use differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods where applicable.
Early Child Care & Development (For Nursery Teachers):
- Implement play-based and structured learning models.
- Support pupils’ cognitive, emotional, social, and motor development.
- Maintain safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environments.
- Observe and document developmental milestones.
Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain positive classroom discipline.
- Create a structured, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote character development and leadership traits among pupils.
Assessment & Reporting:
- Conduct continuous assessments and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare report cards and provide constructive feedback to parents.
- Identify struggling learners and implement intervention strategies.
Parent & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Maintain professional communication with parents.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings.
- Provide guidance to parents on supporting learning at home.
Professional Development & Collaboration:
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance academic delivery.
- Contribute to school growth initiatives and extracurricular activities.
Requires Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of NCE, B.Ed., B.Sc. (Ed), or related field.
- Specialization in Early Childhood Education is mandatory for Nursery Class Teachers.
- Minimum of 2–5 years teaching experience in a standard nursery or primary school.
- Strong understanding of child development and classroom management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Digital literacy and basic ICT competence.
