Job Title: Junior Accountant

Location: Abraham Adesanya, Ajah - Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Accounts / Finance
Reports To: Senior Accountant / Finance Manager

Job Description

  • The Junior Accountant supports the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • The role involves assisting with day-to-day accounting operations such as bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll support, and documentation of financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Record daily financial transactions in accounting systems.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.
  • Assist in processing vendor invoices and payments.
  • Monitor incoming payments and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Maintain records of supplier and client transactions.
  • Assist in preparing monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Assist in compiling financial statements and management reports.
  • Assist with payroll preparation and verification.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee payment documentation.
  • Track expenses and ensure they are within approved budgets.
  • Assist in preparing expense reports and cost analysis
  • Assist in preparing documents for statutory filings and tax compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Prepare requested financial documents and reports.
  • Maintain organized financial files and documentation.
  • Assist senior finance staff with other accounting tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Must have completed NYSC)
  • 1-3 years of accounting or finance-related experience
  • Basic knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and tax requirements is an added advantage.
  • Professional certification, such as ICAN (ATS level), ACCA (foundation level), or equivalent, is an advantage.
  • Strong Accounting ethical standards and integrity.

Required Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Familiarity with accounting software
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 monthly (depending on experience and qualification).
