Job Summary
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sales & Marketing Executive for one of our clients.
- This role blends sales with marketing, communications, content leadership, and community engagement, with a strong performance orientation.
- You will lead and mentor creative team members (content creators, designers, video editors, community coordinators) to ensure 8thGear remains top-of-mind in Africa’s enterprise support and venture building ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Conversion:
- Lead end-to-end sales for:
- Hub Services
- Internal 8thGear Programs for MSMEs
- Partnerships & Memberships
- Convert leads from campaigns, walk-ins, inquiries, and referrals
- Manage CRM pipeline (Excel into Zoho)
- Lead qualification, engagement, follow-up & closing
- Maintain structured outreach rhythm (calls, DMs, emails, demos)
- Build relationships with founders, SMEs, corporates, ecosystem partners
Marketing & Demand Generation:
- Develop, execute, and optimize digital marketing campaigns (Organic, Google, Meta, LinkedIn) that consistently generate high-quality leads (MSMEs) for:
- Hub Services
- Virtual Office Service/Coworking
- Talent Placement
- Tech Marketplace tools (Digiplus Starter Kit, Zoho Apps, MTN EB, etc.) and referral to our Business Services Portfolio Ventures (LegalMo.biz, FinaMo.biz, Digiplus Cafe, …)
- GaaS - Growth Advisory via our Internal Programs such as MIRE (Market & Investment Readiness for Entreprenuers, DSE (Digital Skills for Entrerpenuers), Hub Membership (Monthly Personalised Mentorship and Accountability Sessions) and where required on-demand paid membership sessions.
- External Impact Initiatives/ programs (eg DBN ETP, Meristem Incubation, GearUp incubation Connecta, LSETF Employability Training etc.)
- Build and manage funnels for each product line
- Drive traffic to landing pages, websites, communities
- Develop compelling messaging aligned with 8thGear positioning
Communications & Brand Growth:
- Lead storytelling that positions 8thGear as top-of-mind in Africa’s enterprise support ecosystem through (Thought Leadership content and Journaling happenings at the Hub)
- Drive content strategy (video-first priority)
- Grow and manage online communities & engagements
- Ensure brand voice, tone, and visual identity remain consistent across all channels.
- Strengthen reputation, visibility, and relevance.
- Platforms include: LinkedIn · Instagram · Facebook · X · TikTok · WhatsApp Channels · Email & Newsletter · SMS Channels
Community Engagement & Relationship Building:
- Engage founders, MSME owners, alumni & ecosystem stakeholders
- Ensure community members feel seen, heard, supported
- Manage monthly touchpoints (online and offline) to ensure community warmth, responsiveness, and belonging.
- Coordinate webinars, meetups, spotlight features, live sessions, AMAs, and micro-events.
- Manage and grow email lists, WhatsApp Groups, SMS lists, and CRM segments.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Provide leadership direction to a youthful team of:
- Creative Content Designers
- Digital Marketers
- Community Coordinators
- Collaborate with Operations, Programs, and BD Units
- Provide marketing insight to leadership for strategic decision-making
- Provide weekly content direction & insights to the creative team.
- Approve content calendars, scripts, captions, and visual concepts.
- Ensure content is storytelling-driven, educational, entertaining, and impactful.
- Maintain a near-real-time content pipeline for all departments (Programs, Hub Services, Growth, CEO office).
Data, Insights & Reporting:
- Track KPIs across marketing, communication, and community metrics.
- Analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies based on insights.
- Conduct industry and competitor research to identify content gaps and growth opportunities.
- Submit weekly reports to the Growth Associate and CEO.
General Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, PR, or related field.
- 3–6 years in Marketing, Sales, Communications, or Growth roles.
- Proven record closing business (not just awareness).
- Proven track record of running high-performing campaigns with verifiable results.
- Strong understanding of marketing funnels, conversion optimization, and CRM tools (preferably Zoho).
- Skilled in Ads Management: Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
- Proficiency in social media management & analytics tools.
- Excellent content planning, copywriting, and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to lead a small creative team and manage multiple content pipelines.
- Strong analytical skills, with ability to optimize campaigns based on data.
- Experience in coordinating community events or online engagement initiatives.
- High curiosity, creativity, and commitment to staying updated on content trends.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take initiative.
