Federal College of Education, Jama'are, is situated in the town of Jama’are area of Bauchi state. The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) became the funding and Policy control agency responsible for the supervision of the college and all other Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Jama'are, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position below:
Job Title: Provost
Location: Jama'are, Bauchi
Duties
- The Provost is the Chief Executive, Administrative and Accounting officer of the College and is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the College.
- The successful candidate would be expected to provide the required academic, administrative, Administrative and professional leadership for the College in executing the broad policies laid down by the Governing Council for the achievement of objectives for which the institution was established.
- He/she has statutory power to exercise general authority over the staff and students for the direction and discipline in the College.
Qualifications
- Candidate Should Possess a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) from a recognized University in a field relevant to at least one program in the College.
- He/she should be a registered and active member of a professional Association in the field of Education.
- Possession of a professional teaching qualification, a minimum of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), is Mandatory.
- Registration as a professional Teacher with TRCN will be an added advantage.
- Candidate must not be above Fifty-nine (59) years of age at the time of taking up the appointment.
- Candidate must possess a minimum of Fifteen (15) years post-qualification teaching/research experience in an institution of higher learning; and in addition must have held a senior teaching/research and top administrative post in a College of Education system as evidence of ability to manage human and material resources.
- Candidate must show evidence of a good track record in result-oriented research reaching high National and International status in their research achievements, as evident in scholarly publications.
- Candidate must be a Chief Lecturer with at least five (5) years cognate experience.
- Candidate must be of good conduct and character, possess a sense of discipline, dedication, drive, and resourcefulness; and be able to command the respect and loyalty of the members of staff and students of the College.
- He/she must be somebody who is not likely to foster personal, social, ethnic, political, religious, and other sectional interests.
- Candidate must be proficient in Information Communication Technology (ICT) packages and applications.
- Possession of an ICT certificate, both national and international, will be an added advantage.
- Evidence of Community Service, local, national, and international Development.
- Candidate must be a man/woman of Vision, a Goal-getter, and one who can produce and execute a strategic plan for the College.

Vision and Mission Statement
- The candidate must submit, in clear terms, in not more than two (2) pages, his/her vision statement for the College in the next 5 years.
Condition of Service
- The successful candidate will be entitled to the privileges and benefits of principal officers as specified in the terms and conditions of services for the federal colleges of Education in Nigeria and other conditions which may be approved from time to time by the Governing Council of the College in accordance with the Colleges of Education Act, and in consultation with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
Tenure of Appointment
- The appointment is for a single term of five years only, beginning from the effective date of appointment.
