St.Ives Specialist Hospital is a multi-specialist hospital that opened in 1996. The hospital offers dedicated specialist services in all matters of women, children, and family health, managed by a group of consultants in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Medicine & Surgery.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Paramedic

Job Summary

  • The Paramedic is responsible for providing immediate medical care and life-saving interventions to patients during emergencies, as well as ensuring safe and timely ambulance transport to and from healthcare facilities.
  • This role combines emergency response, patient care, and transportation duties to support the clinic’s or hospital's critical care and outreach services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and dispatch instructions for patient pick-up and drop-off.
  • Safely operate ambulances to and from scenes, hospitals, clinics, or homes, observing traffic regulations and patient safety protocols.
  • Assess emergency situations quickly and make sound decisions to stabilize patients en route.
  • Communicate effectively with the dispatch center, medical personnel, and receiving facilities to coordinate care.
  • Perform advanced pre-hospital medical procedures including CPR, wound care, IV insertion, oxygen administration, and medication delivery.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, patient condition, and care administered throughout transport.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families during distressing situations.
  • Ensure safe transfer of patients from home or accident sites to stretchers and into ambulance vehicles with minimal disruption or discomfort.
  • Accurately complete patient care reports and submit necessary documentation to the appropriate department.
  • Clean, disinfect, and restock the ambulance after each call to ensure readiness.
  • Inspect and maintain all medical equipment, supplies, and vehicle systems to ensure functionality and compliance with health standards.

  • Represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, and empathy in all interactions.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • National Diploma or Certificate in Paramedical Science or Emergency Medical Technology.
  • Valid license/certification to practice as a Paramedic.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
  • Minimum of 3years’ experience in emergency medical services or pre-hospital care preferred.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
