Job Description
- The Field Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the on-site installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of JMG generators and associated electrical control systems.
- This role requires a hands-on professional who can diagnose complex electrical faults, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure maximum uptime and customer satisfaction at client locations across the region.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and troubleshooting on a wide range of generators (single-phase and three-phase), including control panels, ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches), and circuit breakers.
- Respond to emergency service calls, diagnose electrical faults, and implement effective solutions to restore power quickly.
- Conduct load bank testing, relay testing, and insulation resistance testing to verify system integrity.
- Supervise and execute the electrical installation of new generator sets at customer sites, ensuring compliance with JMG standards and safety regulations.
- Configure generator controllers (Deep Sea, ComAp, or similar) and ATS panels for automatic mains failure (AMF) operation.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and multimeters to analyze complex issues in control circuits, alternators, sensors, and voltage regulators (AVR).
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to identify root causes of system failures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND)in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of practical experience in electrical field service, specifically within the power generation industry.
- Proven hands-on experience withdiesel generator sets(500kVA – 2MVA and above) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC circuits, motor controls, and power generation principles.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) and excitation systems.
