Job Description
- We are looking for a creative and disciplined Chef to lead our kitchen operations.
- You will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment, and ensuring every plate that leaves the kitchen meets our café’s standards for taste and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Meal Preparation: Cook and prepare dishes according to the café’s menu, ensuring consistent flavor and quality.
- Menu Innovation: Assist in creating new recipes and seasonal specials to keep the menu exciting.
- Inventory Management: Track stock levels, reduce food wastage, and request supplies before they run out.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain strict cleanliness of all cooking stations, utensils, and equipment according to health and safety standards.
- Team Coordination: Supervise kitchen assistants (if any) and coordinate with the waitstaff to ensure timely food delivery.
- Quality Control: Inspect all ingredients for freshness and ensure proper food storage (FIFO method).
Requirements
Education:
- Minimum: SSCE/High School Diploma with a professional Catering Certificate.
- Preferred: OND/HND or a degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management.
Experience:
- Minimum: 2+ years of experience working as a professional cook or chef in a reputable restaurant or cafe.
Other Requirements
- Personal Hygiene: Must maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long durations and work in a hot kitchen environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Skills:
- Culinary Expertise: Strong knowledge of both Nigerian and Continental cuisines.
- Knife Skills: Speed and precision in food preparation.
- Plating: Artistic ability to present food in an appetizing and modern café style.
- Time Management: Ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously during peak hours.
- Pressure Management: Remaining calm and efficient in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
