Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer - Telecoms
Location: Victoria Island - Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project execution plans for the installation of UPS, inverters, rectifiers, lithium/VRLA battery banks, ATS panels, AC and DC distribution panels, transformers, AVRs, and other power systems at telecom and industrial sites.
- Form and manage project teams for each installation assignment, ensuring the appropriate mix of technical skills and resources.
- Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion within agreed quality standards and customer specifications.
- Coordinate site activities, supervise third-party contractors when engaged, and ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.
- Identify potential project risks early and implement corrective actions to prevent delays or quality issues.
Installation and Commissioning Management:
- Lead installation, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure proper integration and functionality of power systems.
- Verify that installations meet design specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements.
- Conduct final site inspections, system validation, and acceptance testing with customers where applicable.
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation and ensure proper handover of completed installations.
Pre-Sales Technical Support:
- Support the Sales Manager and sales team during the pre-sales phase by conducting site surveys and feasibility assessments.
- Prepare and review technical proposals, including system designs, engineering calculations (load sizing, cable sizing, battery autonomy calculations, etc.), and material selection.
- Participate in solution presentations, technical discussions, and customer meetings when required.
- Ensure proposed technical solutions are practical, executable, and aligned with field requirements.
Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and After-Sales Support:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities to ensure system reliability and longevity.
- Provide prompt response and resolution for corrective maintenance and emergency support requests.
- Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis of system faults and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records for assigned customer sites.
Team Leadership and Staff Development:
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians assigned to project teams.
- Provide on-the-job training and technical support to enhance team capabilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a strong customer service culture.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare site survey reports, installation progress reports, commissioning documentation, and maintenance logs.
- Provide regular status updates to project and sales teams.
- Escalate issues or risks requiring management attention in a timely manner.
- Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed.
Customer and Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as the technical point of contact for customers during project execution.
- Ensure customer requirements are clearly understood, documented, and delivered.
- Conduct customer walkthroughs and provide technical clarifications when required.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
