Job Title: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse

Location: Rivers

Role Overview

  • The ICU Nurse provides specialized nursing care for critically ill patients and supports recovery following severe illness, trauma, or surgery. The role requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Critical Care:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to changes.
  • Maintain patient dignity and advocate for patient rights.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families.

Emergency & ICU Procedures:

  • Monitor ICU patients and support life-saving interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to medical orders.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies or patient deterioration.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Follow ICU protocols, infection prevention standards, and clinical guidelines.
  • Maintain high standards of care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support audits and clinical performance monitoring.

Safety Management:

  • Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and reducing risks.
  • Ensure ICU equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
  • Take immediate action during safety incidents or emergencies.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Work closely with doctors and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Provide clear handovers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and management.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of patient care, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Complete incident reports and ensure compliance with documentation standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in training, audits, and professional development.
  • Contribute to improving patient care processes and clinical practices.

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in ICU or critical care nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license.
  • Experience with ICU monitoring equipment and emergency interventions.
  • Knowledge of infection control, patient safety, and hospital protocols.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts.
