Job Summary

  • We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fishing Tool Specialist to join our marine operations team in Port Harcourt.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, operation, and maintenance of fishing tools used in offshore and marine environments, ensuring safe and efficient retrieval of lost or stuck equipment during drilling and subsea operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, assemble, and inspect fishing tools prior to deployment in offshore or marine operations.
  • Operate and monitor fishing tools during well intervention and recovery activities.
  • Diagnose downhole problems and recommend appropriate fishing techniques and tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool usage, maintenance, and operational performance.
  • Ensure all tools meet safety and operational standards before and after use.
  • Collaborate with drilling engineers, marine crew, and technical teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of fishing equipment.
  • Follow company safety procedures and marine regulatory requirements at all times.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in fishing operations, well intervention, or drilling support.
  • Strong knowledge of fishing tools, downhole equipment, and marine operational procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues in high-pressure environments.
  • Familiarity with offshore safety standards and marine operational protocols.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in rotational offshore schedules if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications related to offshore safety (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
  • Previous experience working in marine or offshore oilfield environments.
  • Hands-on experience with various fishing tool systems and well recovery techniques.
