Job Title: Head, Internal Control

Job Summary

• The Head of Internal Control ensures effective internal control systems and regulatory compliance across the bank. Responsible for risk assessment, internal audits, policy enforcement, and adherence to CBN, NDIC, SEC, and other regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls across banking operations, treasury, and lending.
• Conduct periodic audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
• Ensure regulatory reporting requirements (CBN, NDIC, SEC) are met accurately and timely.
• Identify control weaknesses, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation.
• Lead fraud prevention, AML, and anti-corruption initiatives.
• Provide staff training on compliance, ethics, and internal control standards.
• Report findings to executive management and board committees.

KPIs

• Number of audit findings and time to closure
• Regulatory compliance adherence
• Effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies
• Staff adherence to internal controls

Qualifications & Experienc

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
• Professional certifications: ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, or CISM preferred.
• 8+ years in banking compliance/internal control, with 5+ years in leadership.

• Knowledge of banking regulations, internal control frameworks, and compliance standards.
• Analytical, investigative, and reporting skills.
• Leadership, persuasion, and stakeholder management.
