Job Title: Team Lead – Collections

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Role 

  • The Team Lead – Collections will be responsible for overseeing the collections team, ensuring effective recovery of outstanding debts while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • The role involves managing collection strategies, supervising team performance, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the collections team, ensuring targets for debt recovery are met.
  • Develop and implement effective collection strategies to improve recovery rates.
  • Monitor team performance through KPIs, call reviews, and performance reports.
  • Handle escalated delinquent accounts and negotiate repayment arrangements with customers.
  • Ensure all collection activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Prepare and present collection performance reports to management.
  • Train, mentor, and coach collection officers to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with risk, operations, and customer service teams to resolve account issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of all collection activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years experience in collections, credit risk, or loan recovery.
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role within collections.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience managing collection KPIs and performance targets.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to lead a team in a high-pressure, target-driven environment. Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in fintech, microfinance, lending, or financial services.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending and loan recovery processes.
  • Familiarity with collection systems and CRM tools.
