Job Title: Senior Well Intervention Engineer

Location: Nigeria

Job Summary

  • The Senior Well Intervention Engineer (SWE) is responsible for well planning, design, programming, and providing engineering support during the execution of drilling campaigns.
  • The SWE will support a wide range of well engineering activities, including the planning and execution of various well designs—exploration, appraisal, development, land, surface, subsea, deviated, horizontal, and multi-lateral wells.
  • This includes conducting well reviews, monitoring field operations performance, and holding broad responsibilities covering drilling engineering, completion engineering, and drilling supervision/operations management.
  • The SWE also mentors and supervises all well engineers and interns.

Key Accountabilities

  • Liaise with Well Engineers, Production Technologists, Production Operations Engineers, Reservoir Engineers, and service providers.
  • Design wells, including casing design, hydraulics programs, bit programming, and drill string design.
  • Prepare AFE/Budgeting and monitor expenditures during operations.
  • Identify and implement ideas to improve performance by repeating best composite well times, reducing NPT, estimating red money, using new techniques/technologies, and modifying procedures.
  • Monitor performance against operational goals and develop reporting and auditing processes to analyze operational effectiveness.
  • Develop ITT and support contracting, vendor management, and procurement. Assist with tender document preparation and evaluations for service and equipment contracts for Drilling & Wells teams.
  • Coordinate risk identification and mitigation.
  • Implement change control procedures to ensure that changes to procedures—planned or unplanned—receive the necessary technical authority approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, regulations, and objectives within their area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate DWOP and AAR processes.
  • Prepare drilling programs and end-of-well reports.
  • Develop detailed well designs and prepare Well AFEs.
  • Skilled in using TSD and hydraulic simulations to validate BHAs and design trajectories.
  • Supervise jobs carried out by Well Engineers and LIE.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering well campaigns.

Qualifications & Experience

  • First degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of cognate work experience as a drilling engineer in an ESP company.
  • Valid IWCF certificate (Supervisor – Surface/Subsea Stock).
  • Excellent command of the Landmark Drilling and Completions Engineers suite.
  • Demonstrated history of successfully delivering well campaigns.
