Job Summary
- We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Grant Writer to join our team and play a key role in securing funding that supports our mission and programs.
- The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and managing all aspects of the grant application and reporting process.
- This position requires excellent writing, communication, and project management skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Proposal Writing:
- Research, draft, and submit persuasive and tailored grant proposals and applications.
- Customize grant requests to align with the guidelines and interests of specific funders.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive grant proposal calendar to ensure timely submissions.
Research and Identification:
- Identify and evaluate potential funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Conduct thorough research on funding opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
- Maintain an organized and updated database of funding opportunities, deadlines, and application requirements.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with program managers and department leads to gather necessary program data and organizational needs.
- Collaborate with finance and program staff to develop budgets and other financial materials for proposals.
- Act as the primary liaison with funders, ensuring clear, timely, and professional communication.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit all required reports, evaluations, and updates for funders in accordance with grant agreements.
- Maintain detailed records of submitted proposals, funding decisions, and funder communications.
- Track progress of active applications and manage post-award processes, including reporting and compliance.
Compliance and Monitoring:
- Ensure that all proposals meet funder-specific guidelines and criteria.
- Monitor compliance with grant agreements, deliverables, timelines, and reporting obligations.
Relationship Building:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential funders.
- Represent the organization at funding-related meetings, conferences, and networking events as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in grant writing, preferably in the nonprofit or public sector.
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail and clarity.
- Ability to understand and articulate complex programs in a persuasive and compelling manner.
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial documentation for grant proposals.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grant management software or databases.
