Job Title: Junior Legal Officer

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Summary

  • We are a supermarket of fintech companies seeking a Junior Legal Officer.
  • The Junior Legal Officer provides legal support to the organization by assisting in drafting, reviewing, and managing legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and supporting the resolution of legal issues.
  • The role is responsible for safeguarding the organization’s legal interests while supporting day-to-day business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and vetting contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
  • Provide support in ensuring the organization’s compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, opinions, and reports on various legal matters.
  • Support the management of litigation and dispute resolution, including liaising with external counsel.
  • Review internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in handling corporate governance matters, including documentation and filings.
  • Maintain proper legal records, documentation, and contract database.
  • Provide legal guidance to internal stakeholders on routine matters.
  • Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and advise management accordingly.
  • Support the Legal Department in day-to-day administrative and operational tasks.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.
  • Called to the Bar (BL) and qualified to practice law.
  • 1–3 years’ post-call experience in a law firm or corporate organization.
  • Basic understanding of corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
  • Experience in the financial services sector
