Job Title: Account Officer

Locations: Abuja (FCT), Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Niger
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

  • The Account Officer is responsible for managing daily financial operations, ensuring accurate record‑keeping, and supporting the preparation of financial reports.
  • This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet tools.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
  • Record daily financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Ensure proper documentation and secure filing of financial documents.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Process vendor invoices and prepare payment schedules.
  • Manage customer invoicing and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Reconcile supplier and customer accounts regularly.

Bank & Cash Management:

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor daily cash balances and update cashbooks.
  • Manage petty cash disbursement and reporting.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Support budget preparation and expenditure tracking.
  • Provide timely financial data for management decision‑making.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure strict adherence to accounting policies and internal control procedures.
  • Support both internal and external audit processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks (posting transactions, reconciliation, reporting).
  • Familiarity with general accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
